Hi guys glad to be part of this great forum, i have been using computers since i was 5 years old. I am now 15 and am very good at the things i need to do on a computer but i would like to expand my knowledge.

I currently have dabbled into a bit of VB programming and am doing the cisco networking course for the next 2 years.

I would like to know some of the things you can do over a network, similar topics have suggested keyboard control ect. if ne one can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Sounds to me like you are in the right direction. Cisco courses at 15. Go ahead Griffon. Are you looking for tips on how to gain access/controll of a workstation over a network or just network tips in general.

One of my favorite things to do on a network is to sniff. Nothing fancy or groundbreaking, just plain ole packet-sniffing. It's wild what you can find floating around.

Well the only layout of a network i am really familiar with is the one at my chool which runs all on novell.

I have some great fun with this we all give access to each others drive so we can share homework assignments, I would like to know some cool tips and tricks, you know some loop holes ect. Does anyone know anyhting as i would like to be a foot in the door when i start the cisco course next year.

I would also like to start one sort of programming language if any one knows of any comlete start from scratch sites i would be very greatful.

Thanx

For complete start from scratch sites, it depends on what language you wanna learn. I wrote a series of tutorials and found some others and made a site, if you want to learn Java. www.javaspot.net

When I was in 10th grade my buddy and I would get homework assignments that students from a year or two back did. Then we'd put em up on a geocities page for everyone to get. It was good fun. You can learn PHP too, which might make something pretty cool. Create a site using PHP, and have a form accessible to submit homework files. So one person can do the homework, and upload it via this form and script, and everyone else can download it whenever they want. You can store the entries in a database and organize it really simply and easily. That would be pretty cool.

Cool thanks pergesu i am looking into that site right now.

I have been using kazaa alot lately and i notice a popup add that says "contect to your pc anywhere" is this done with an ip address . Could someone please explain this to me. Me and a buddy are experimenting alot with computer stuff, is there nayway you can connect to somebody's pc and view there files? Like is there a program as simple as typing in an IP and then if there connected to the net you can see there pc screen in a section of yours?

Playa you wanna look at NetBIOS hacking. It's easy stuff. Search in Google and you find tons of stuff. However I took the liberty of finding you of finding you a good set of em and a particularly good tutorial.

wow ive read heaps on this netbios hacking exept im having trouble finding an IP address to practise on, I get a scanner but all 139 ports are closed on every one, this sort of stuff would be good to help ur friends and sharing files.

Does anyone know an IP i can practise on, strictly no files will be up;oaded.

hey griffon, what's up? i don't know much about this, only what i've picked up in the past couple hours reading posts here, but i remember reading about wargames. it was under the post in the newbie section called "How to locate an IP and use it." not sure if this is gonna help you out or not.

:-/ I think you should learn about wingates and proxies before you do anything else. Unless thats a friends box...

blacksun.box.sk has some nice tutorials on convering your tracks. I recommend you check them out.

See the little thing that says "IP: Logged" under your post? That means you're [censored]. It's too late now
Posted By: Mornse Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/02/02 11:58 PM
haha, yeah, that wasn't too smooth. Pretty sure nobody will care too much if you did that, but I wouldn't talk about anything you've done to anyone, that's how people get caught. And read those proxy/wingate tutorials.
Posted By: Griffon Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/03/02 12:58 AM
Hey go easy what does that really mean be specific here guys?

It means that the address of your computer has been logged. Using it, the feds can track you down. I'm not kidding here either, that's the truth. Hopefully noone will care about this little incident and you'll go unnoticed. But if the owner of the box you went snooping around wants to press charges, then you're screwed. So in the future, try reading some more before you go on hacking escapades.
Posted By: Griffon Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/03/02 03:15 AM
Yea alright but how can they tell ive been in?
Posted By: pergesu Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/03/02 03:51 AM
Dude, I told you twice.

IP: Logged
Posted By: Griffon Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/03/02 05:52 AM
where does it log my ip address>, in a file or what?
Posted By: Gremelin Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/03/02 06:57 AM
In your member profile actually, but only administrators can see it wink .
Posted By: sinetific Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/03/02 07:16 AM
I think he's refering to where its logged on the machine he is 'hacking' which could be any number of places depending on the software and/or network setup they are using and also at their and your ISPs and possibly other points along the way.
Posted By: Griffon Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/03/02 08:12 AM
but who actually stops and looks at it, I mean there would be 100s of ppls doing this wouldnt there be.
Posted By: Drake Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/04/02 04:41 AM
I thought I read somewhere that your IP changes everytime if you are using a dial-up connection. Is that true?
Posted By: pergesu Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/04/02 05:50 AM
yes, unless your ISP assigns the same IP to you every time. It's possible, though I've never heard of it and I don't see why they would.
Posted By: Griffon Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/05/02 02:40 AM
It does change every time i log on smile

So that means other ppl have used the same IP which just about clears my name smile
Posted By: pergesu Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/05/02 02:50 AM
Not really, because there's a time associated with it. All they would have to do is call up your ISP and say, "The person with IP number x.x.x.x at December 1st 0923 broke into my computer." The ISP checks their data (oh yes, they keep that kind of info) and match the IP at that time with the person using it (you) and give you a call.
Posted By: Griffon Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/05/02 03:53 AM
Yes but how long do they keep it for
Posted By: Gremelin Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/05/02 11:21 AM
a long time, trust me on that lol...
Posted By: Nem2k Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/05/02 11:51 AM
And if the connection is not yours ? laugh

Haha ! owned, lol.
Posted By: Gremelin Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/05/02 06:52 PM
if you dialed the number from your line its associated. if you claime your number is blocked all theid have to do is call your telco and state that someone using the system that dialed the isp number and quote the hours, etc.

if you claime its not your line, theil just have your box impounded on suspicion, if they find logs you're [censored]; if they don't, have fun getting your machine back... If you do something that bad...

you're "owned"...

dial-up 56k modems don't have mac addresses. Rather than a mac address, they may use your phone number as the source of the connection, however if you block your phone number from ID utilities, then they may have to contact their phone service provider and give them the time of the call and trace you that way.
Posted By: Gremelin Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/05/02 07:54 PM
Hey Nem, love the new title wink ...
Posted By: Nem2k Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/05/02 11:33 PM
*67,,#ofprovider in your dialup settings = no trace .. well it works like this in here.
Its a free service given by the phone company, it works too when you call someone. (very usefull)

hooo... fine title.. rofl..
(i didnt hack any Gibson yet but thanks anyway.. lol)
Posted By: Cold Sunn Re: Long time Newb coming out of shell - 12/06/02 10:13 PM
some companies charge 75 cents every time you use *67, or a few bucks per month to use it as often as you want. I think it is $3.55 here.

But like he said, try not to brag about stuff. It is hard to tell your friends how leet you are when you h4X0r 4 n3wb'z b0X. Or Teh Pr3z's b0x, or teh p3nt4G0n. whooo...now to douse myself in kerosene for being so newbish.
