This is just to reiterate current policy:

Please post in the correct forums. Yes, General gets the most traffic, but we really hate having to take the time to move posts here in there in attempt to keep some semblance of order here. I know that this is old-hat to most of you, but there are some of you who still don't get it.

And since there is no official UGN policy on this, I will comment on something as a moderator: Do keep advertisements to a dull roar, and in Off-Topic.

Thanks,
unreal

Something to consider when choosing the forum you wish to post something. The forums are there so that you can easily find a concentrated source of information on a particular subject you want to learn about. People with programming questions will look in programming forums for answers. People with security questions concerning Windows will look in the windows security forum. It makes things more convenient. So if you are asking a question, think about which forum best fits cause other people may have the same question.

Another reason why it's advantageous to use the forums is cause some people don't look in the general forum but rarely. You are more likely to get more - and better quality - posts if you put your question in the proper forum. It's cause people who know that topic will be looking there.

Don't think that just because you post in a slow forum, that nobody will read it. It's actually MORE likely they'll read it cause they'd be like "Whoa, there's a new topic in this forum, let's check it out!".

(yeah, I should've put my post about Win2k shares in the windows security forum - we're all guilty)
