Well we have all learned a thing or 2 in here. So why not give something back. I am starting a skining team. First thing I would like to skin is Winamp. This idea has Gizmo's stamp of approval. If skining gets bigenough he is willing to open a skins section on the site.

The idea is to showcase some of UGN's talent. Kind of get our name out there. If you are intrested post here.

Generally, skin wise, we need GFX engeneers and "idea people".

The GFX engeneers will be responsible for building the seperate elements of the skin's.

The "Idea Guys" will be responsible for sketch pad design's of what the skins will, rather should, look like.

We will also need people to draw up instructions and piece together differant skin's.

So far some quick software which accepts skinning:
WinAmp Classic
WinAMP 2
KaZaA
Trillian
Weather Watcher (although not showing HOW to make skin's it is still worth a look though).

Any others? Post here...

Well Windows media player is skinable but I am not sure if you can make your own. Mozilla is skinable as is fire fox.

For Winamp 5 there is some XML knowlage needed also.

It would be nice if there were more skins for FireFox, the ones they have now are all the same.. Kazaa needs some new ones 2. You should take that logo/banner thing at the top of the screen (Underground news/bottle thing) and make it into a winamp skin wink

Well near as I can tell ther are 2 types of skins you can make.

http://www.winamp.com/nsdn/winamp/skinning/classic/
http://winamp.com/nsdn/winamp/skinning/mode...s/Skinning%20Tutorial.pdf

What this amonts to is 1 you can make withot transparencys and without changing winamps shape.(classic)

The other you can do all kinds of cool stuff for but it is much more complicated.

The links are the instructions for both.

I don't like classic skin's since the new system; classic skins at most times don't wish to resize...

What about making a skin for the valve client "steam" . Steam for you people who dont know is a program that allows gamers to use valve resources more easly ( and allows them to advertise and sell products , not that i am complaining, just keep it free!) and that will get your name "out there" and plus it is really easy to do!! vist http://www.cstrike-planet.com/steamskins/ for more info.

Also, PostNuke allows skins as "Theme's". These Theme Engines are Xantia and AutoTheme. AutoTheme is pretty straight forward, simply various calls in the template file to show where data is to be loaded.

Special kudos to those CSS AutoThemes wink
