Chances are you have outlook setup, however, you don't have any authentication setup for the SMTP server. SOme don't require any. So go into like

Tools menu - Accounts - Mail
Highlight your account and click on Properties
Then goto the server tab and check [My Outgoing Server Requires AUthentication].

You can go into the settings portion if you wish to change account info (usually same as for incoming server) which it defaults to. Also can have it save the outgoing password.

Hope that helps.

If that does not help, then you need to use a different SMTP server. If your email address is yahoo.com for instance, you need to use the following domain, mx1.mail.yahoo.com, as your SMTP server. If you tell us the mail domain you use, then I can give you a SMTP server that will allow mail to be sent from your email address.
