we're just playing with ya fleshwound. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. My "contrary" comment was directed at you also, but I was a little bit more subtle than coldsunn by hiding behind a "guys movie" theory.
IMHO the matrix plot is good - an innovative idea. That reality is really virtual reality, and anything is possible in that virtual reality. It's sci-fi but it is realistic. There are other movies that played like what we consider "reality" to be is nothing more than a hoax. Dark City is one such movie and I like it rather well also. But Dark City is about aliens, and it just didn't have the same appeal that a virtual reality does. I mean, what is cooler than getting a jack in your head and plugging you up to a virtual reality and downloading all kinds of information and crap into your skull?
Don't let the CGI graphics distract you from the other coolalities of the movie. I don't see what the big deal about CGI graphics is anyway. I've heard other people complain about it, but I don't mind it at all. I LIKE it even.
Ok, well, I've gotta stop arguing about it now. Something about your fanatical opinions makes me just DIE to argue with you.
And btw fleshwound, the plot thickens in matrix 2. That neo is "the one" turns out to be a big joke played by the machines to continue to subjugate the human mind. There has been many "the ones" in the past. You really don't give matrix the credit it deserves.
another edit, another P.S:
My contrary comment was only half a joke though. Maybe you don't take an opinion and stick with it just BECAUSE it's contrary. But I think you like to look for alternative thinking - which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Like in hitler's example. I'm sure one day you were like, why does everybody hate hitler? Then you go research for reasons to like him. Finding several reasons, you're like "damn, this guy is pretty sweet". Then you go off and tell everybody about it and then when you get the expected reaction, gleefully argue your case.
In the case about matrix, I think it is slightly different. *Everybody* loves it so you watched it and found reasons to dislike it.
This is what I call fanatical opinions. There's good and bad about everything, and fanatically opinionated people concentrate either on the good or the bad. In every debate, in every opinion or stand I make, I try to bring out the good AND the bad. Except in the case where I'm arguing with fanatically opinionated people in which case I take the other extreme and try to balance the person out.
Example: micheal jackson
fanatical against: That guy is screwed up man, he molested children. I hate him!
fanatical for: I love his music! I love that guy and his style, he didn't molest children, never had a thought!
balanced opinion: dunno about molestation, really can't know for sure. But I like his music, although his personality seems kinda screwed up to me.
Darnitall I need to shut up. Ok, I'll tell you guys right now, I won't make another post off topic in this thread.
