I was thinking of a site where you simply have URLs linking to what you want. Maybe put it into categories, and then rate what you link to. And all the links point to are things you would like. Similar to so many wishlists that you see at various specific sites. However, what this does is you create your wishlist that can link to sites anywhere. Then you have a list of emails that you can give the website.

The website sends to those emails (your friends/family) that you have finished a wishlist. It gives them an autogenerated password and an option to join up.

What joining does, is it allows them to see your list and they have a bboard. Notice, you do not have access to this bulletin board. There is a family/friend one where they can talk about who is getting what or other gift ideas.

They also have an ability to mark a gift bought and say who bought it. Or maybe mark it with one of the users that is atleast looking at getting it.

Of course the user can only use a lower level forum to talk to the others. Only the others can see these changes and notes on the wishlist. He will simply see his old wishlist that he had setup.

This would be great b/c everyone could have their own wishlist and pretty much get all their shopping done from one site and eliminate the doubling up of gifts b/c you mark a gift bought.

Are there any sites like this? Anyone see any flaws in this?

sounds pretty nice, i'd even think about hosting one smile . It'd be a good excuse for advertising for UGN as well as wishlists for everyone.

Too bad so soon to christmas and the fact that I also have no startup money. Advertisement would be key to something like that, it could be done independent of anyone such as Amazon.com b/c you would just use a link. But I think they would be more than happy to setup a nice way to import a amazon.com wishlist to a site like that. Same goes for other companies.

Edit: If anyone here has any suggestions for something like this, please reply. It is more food for thought, but if does takeoff, I will be sure to repay you.
