E-Voting Takes Another Hit - 12/04/05 02:41 PM

A leading supplier of electronic voting machines is currently deciding whether it will suspend sales of its equipment after a North Carolina judge declined to protect the supplier should it not disclose software code used by the voting machines.

The reason for the supplier being declined is the minimum voting equipment standards that were approved this year due to the 4400 E-Ballets lost during the November 2004 election in North Carolina.

In light of the new standards all potential suppliers will be asked to provide samples of E-Voting machine software. On Monday, California Secretary of State Bruce McPherson said these standards would apply to California's 58 counties as well.
