Maybe you don't mean DOS, but using the command line to hack? If so, that's really useful. Learn about the 'net' commands (type 'net help' in the prompt and read about it) other [censored] like ping and basic stuff like that are useful because they are easy to use and come with windows. It's also easier for scripting, and you can do loops, look up the help on 'FOR'. Once when I was at school and wanted to check a huge range of IP's to see what comps were online, i used a FOR loop with the IP's and sent the output to a text file so it acted just like a range-ping program. I did this cause we didn't have access to the internet to download one. So there are tons of usefull things, just search around in the help of the different commands.

Ok knowing your way around the DOS prompt is not hacking, it's just basic knowledge and trust me it is very basic.

Open up your command prompt and type in "help". That short list is your set of DOS Commands and a breif description on each. Learn some Batch Scripting.

All the DOS tutorials you could ever want:
http://www.google.com/search?q=dos+...=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&start=0&sa=N

(notice the topics such as "Learn DOS in a few short paragraphs")

Well there you go. I bet its ten times easier than you expected. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

Do yourself and favor and learn to read before you ask questions. This will save you time, stop you from wasting ours, and irritate us a lot less.

I'm sorry if my first post was kind not helping. I had actually made a post after that with some usefull information but for some reason it didn't get posted to the board. The best advice I can give to any newbie who is starting is to just read. You can't come with every question you have an just post it on the board. For example, placid jus asked about batch commands. Now, it's easy for me to tell him what they are an how they're used an all that but it's really not necassary. All you have to do is go to a search engine like google and type in "Batch command" or jus read about dos in general an you will find it out for yourself. Do a search on ur own computer for files ending in .bat then open them up with a notepad and you can see for urself what they are. Then try to write your own batch files. When I learned about them I wrote a batch file to open up all the programs an folders I use when scanning and getting information about a host, thats how I learned. Don't wait for an answr, find it yourself.
