I need a little advice. I want to learn hacking merely because I am intrested in specializing in network security one day. I have taken my 7 microsoft classes and am going to start to take my exams in a couple weeks. Is there any advice as far as planning to get my mcse and what other certs to get. I realize that a CCNP should be on my list as well. Just really looking for good input and would highly appreciate the advise.

cool

You wana learn to hack hu?

Okay.. First learn to love computers. Live eat sleep and breath tech talk. Follow tech trends. Learn a popular OS inside and out, then pick another one. Learn encryption, learn buffer over flows and how they work, Then get a free aol C.D. and DoS someone.

ha ha ha ha ha

bah, pathetic advice learner - to be blunt. He's already taken lots of computer classes man, he's obviously into computers. What he needs is links to exploit sites or whatever. So if somebody would suggest some, I'm sure he'd appreciate it. I myself cannot remember the popular ones - I don't really read exploit news.

So basically, read about some exploits and get out a scanner and look for insecure computers and play around and learn the way things go.

Or, if you don't want to do anything illegal, try wargames. You can look up wargames on the internet, or you can set up your own wargame. Either set up a computer of your own on a network or over the internet, and hack into it. It's your own computer so you're allowed to hack into it. Unless you didn't give yourself permission. wink
Your you can get a friend to let you try and get into his computer. As long as you have permission it's not illegal.

For stuff on how to do it, just search hacking on google.com
And check out blacksun.box.sk

If you want to waste your money, at least become elite...

take:
CCNA, get a few Linux Certifications, some Network Security [censored] and an oricle cert, A+ and [censored] is a waste, who wants a microsoft certifide moron?

There is nothing wrong with getting your A+ certificate gizmo..... frown you hurt my feelings now besides it is good to know the inside of the computer too...not just the soft ware.

What is the scoop on the linux cert. The only thing I know is that linux runs on Unix and I am going to be taking a couple classes on Unix in a few months when I go to univ. of pheonix. As far as Oracle is concerned....that cost a bunch of scooby snacks. I would love to learn Oracle but can you give me the poor mans way of learning it.
I have already checked and it cost 14,000 for 6 months.

jesus guys. Give me some credit. I was being sarcastic. OMFG Want to learn about network security. Learn about UNIX. it is the backbone OS for 80% of networks out there.

Learn about DoS and DDoS. Figure a way to stop that and you might make some money from corperate america.

Study cicso, yea cisco cert guys can make decent money. Heh, Learn ATM, Frame Relay, SMDS, Or study Wireless networks. That is the future my boy. Right now wireless encryption is weak real weak. almost as secure as the networks of the 80's.

ya know learner....I had faith in you.
Thanks for the advice. How does SunMicr. have anything to do with Unix, because I saw where we ordered 120 sunblade 1000's for the Unix guys at work. Do they run hand in hand?

Well SilentRage said somthing about exploits, well youd be surprised what you can find at www.hackers.com (yeah they dont even try to hide) they have a decent exploit section hasnt been updated in a couple months though, but its a start

heh, SR give Learner a break. Not everyone is uber-j33t like u, sheesh! IMO, its better to teach yourself stuff, I think you learn better that way. SO dont just take classes and get certs, find something ur interested in like specific kind of hacking, etc. and teach it to yourself. BTW, go to hackers.com and read their VBB. Its very um, ahh...hilarious. Heh, anywayz,
L8r.

Don't lose faith my freind.

Sun Blades FAQ on hardware

But what you are wondering about is Solaris.

Solaris is a Unix OS developed by SUN Micro systems. Some would argue the best Unix OS out there. Others would dissagree. However you have to have a sparc based machine in order to run it. The SUN Blades are a Sparc based machine but at a lower cost than other Sum computers.

Here is the sun blade home page....

You will learn not to lose faith in me too soon man. I am one of the few that will actualy search an answer for you. Many others will give you a link to google and a pat on the [censored].
