Microsoft Threatens to Take Windows Off the Market

Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft, has threatened that the sanctions which have been proposed by nine states not involved in the settlement with the federal government would force Microsoft to remove the Windows operating system from the market.

"I actually think we would need to withdraw the Windows product from the marketplace. That...would be the only way I understand to comply with the proposal as put forward by the non-settling states," he told the court.

The sanctions in question involve forcing Microsoft to provide an operating system which can be configured without any of the company's middleware at all, a task that Ballmer says is impossible without breaking Windows.

Bah, all these microsoft lawsuits are turning into pissing contests. Everyone knows that MS won't take their product of the shelves, and it's only slightly more likely that they ever recieve a punishment that will truely hurt them badly.
lol they tried to sue me once, claimed that i was warezing software, but when i quoted their EULA they droped charges.
What was it you quoted them? smile
well of course they wont take windows off the market: that would make to many of us happy. anyway, if they did, most of there software wouldn't run, and they would have to write for linux, and me learning directX right now would be pointless and....O NO! itll never happen.
