I was waiting for something like this to happen. They tried to pin Columbine on Marilyn Manson and Id Software. But this is far worse, b/c the defendants actually are coping out to it being because of the game. Read more here

"Videogames are on trial yet again in the US, as the family of a man killed by teenagers who shot at passing cars on a freeway file a lawsuit against Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two.

The two teenagers - William and Joshua Buckner, 16 and 14 years old, respectively - opened fire on vehicles on the Interstate 40 highway in Tennessee with a .22 calibre rifle, killing one person and injuring another severely. "

"These products are deadly." Man that is such bull [censored], its not the product that makes people go and shoot others, its the people themselves that are deadly, all or mostly all games have ratings on them, and i believe the rating for GTA is 17 and older and its says like Blood violence and gore, its not the games fault its the people who commit the crimes fault. And were did those kids get access to guns? If their parents had guns they should of had locks on the trigers, or had them in a locked cabinet or somthing.

that [censored] will never follow thru, like all video game lawsuits...

haha yea i geuss ur right in the end people wont lock guns up and the lawsuits wont fall through, haha its all quite funny, how people blame their actions on others when its not their fault, god people can really suck.

Of all the things I have learned by reading news; parents don't want to parent
the government takes it upon themselves to parent
both blame anyone and anything but themselves when someting goes wrong with a child

This case shouldn't win, but it is stronger for a few reasons. Often the connection between the act and the game itself is simply that of violence. However, the parallels between their crime and GTA are very similar. And usually, as mentioned above, the parents/government are the ones singing the tune of blaming the video game, not the actual minors involved.

Don't mistake this for me agreeing with any of it. I also agree its on the fault of the kids themselves and the parents.

It's a blame game. The parents don't want to take fault that they let it happen and they point at the media as if it caused all these problems... No1 wants to take blame for it. People been at this for awhile, ex RWS still has lawsuits since 1997 goin on... Its a common thing for game development companies like that. Oh well, ghey eh?

Its f'ing stupid that people do this [censored], its not the games its the people. People like that need professional help.

This is such bullshit. I'm sick and tired of it and the debates that revolve around it. If you are stupid enough to re-enact a violent videogame in real life you should plead insanity instead of stand trial. Parents should know their children and know how involved they are going to get in a game and make a judgement call.

"Guns don't kill people, videogames do!"

I posted a report that showed violent video games didn't actual make anyone violent statistically. What it did was increase the reflexes and critical thinking skills of the children that played them.

Jon is right, infact it was in the NY Times in june I think. Computer Gaming World did an article that Harvard or MIT (someone) did. One person played Quake 3 for an amount of time, the other read a book on psychology... Then they switched... The result of what would cause more strees and risk of acts of violence was the psychology book... DAMN BOOKS! Crazy isn' it? Its true 2
