Hi,

I am currently studying computers (AVCE ICT) at college and I'm working on the computers all the time.

It really pisses me off the fact that i can hardly do anything on them because of the restriction imposed by - surprise, surprise 'RM Networks'.

Last year college made my life easier as i able to get my hands on some programs that removed the restrictions, but the difference this year is that the college is running 'XP Pro' unlike 'Win98' the previous and not only have they updated the OS, but they have updated the 'RM' version as well.

The program i used last year to remove the restrictions doesn't work.

I've checked the net, but with no success.

Would anyone be able to help me out here? Thanks

Thanks for those who help!

Can you give us some info about RM?
Posted By: n3o Re: 'RM Networks' suck! - 09/17/03 04:40 AM
Sorry i meant 'RM Connect' which is a network at which we can logon and go to our personal accounts (shells) where we have all our stuff, but are accounts (shells) are restricted.

OK. Checked out some stuff. It all seems data around early 2000. I did find a tutorial by Mikkkeee, however, I question its' age b/c I believe he is at ISW and not BSRF anymore, and it is a BSRF tutorial. Anyways, here is the link -> LINK . Hopefully that helps.

Be sure to check out the website yourself. if the tutorial doesn't work and this is a big deal to you, you may have to invest sometime. Often with these security applications, the website will give clues to circumventing it if you read through the document and knowledgebase. Also, check for patches, hotfixes, etc. These will be sources of info that can tell you default settings/passwords, file locations, holes that need to be fixed (hopefully your admin doesn't stay current smile ), etc.

Note: Checking http://www.rm.com , it seems the latest version is 2.4. This tutorial covers upto 2.3. So if you do have the absolute latest version, it may not work. BTW, this isn't a tool, you will have to perform this yourself.

For future reference, threads like this always help by including the software, maker, version, website, and any old tutorials/programs you were using to hack it. This allows the good ppl here @ UGN to easily start helping you, rather than looking up all the information that you already know and could have supplied. Not a flame, just a friendly reminder from your local moderator. KTNX

Thanks for your help.

I will go and check some of those things out.

Actually if his network is running win xp (with a win 2000 server) none of those methods would work. That would mean your college is running community connect 3 where as that tutorial is good enough up to connect 2.4. If you want some decent information on connect 3 hacking try http://rmx.s5.com/cgi-bin/framed/1468/Sniper.htm , good luck

the backdoor for rm connect accounts is

propagate
password=application

this will work because u cant change it
this shell allows u to access the c: drive

That also only applies for earlier versions of RM Connect, in CC3 they removed that account so it won't work.

your site is good the rmx.s5.com but your programs are not made by RM on the propagte password you can not accsses the shell account unless it is set up.

but if you want a better site with all the correct RM tools like usermanager then visit
[url removed due to user violating rules]

the layout of the site crap but it is going to be updated over christmas. <img border="0" alt="devil" title="" src="graemlins/devil.gif" />

Have you tried using ERD Commander? you need to have a computer with working CD drive, or flash drive to boot to.
Press F10 or F11 at startup (something like that) and boot to CD, you can change passwords using locksmith!
If that fails, and they have password protected the BIOS, yur gonna need a screw drive and open up the case, clear the CMOS (removes password) by connecting the jumpers.
Then start it up and change boot order.

RM networks suck. The head in my school bought it (hes a retard)
It creates huge ammount of excess traffic and slows them right down (used 256mb 600 p3 laptop to access internet and loaded faster than the 1gig 3GHz machines that they had in LOL)

good luck

Almost fogot, to get into the BIOS you need to press either F1, F2 or DEL before it beeps. And the laptop that I used was mine and not connected to the domain

It's interesting the key combo that's required on some machines... On Kellie's Gateway it's Esc, on my Dell it's F2, on my mom's HP and Compaq it's F2, and my old desktop it was F1; so it can be interesting to see what different manufacturers choose to use...
Posted By: heebyjeebys Re: 'RM Networks' suck! - 02/29/08 11:27 PM
Yes it is very interesting. Have not come accross one that needs ESC yet.

Wait till you see one that requires F13... Extended keyboards suck; computers with prepriatery keyboards do too... Then again, this was an anciently old computer (iirc it was a 286)

DAMN. These f*** RM computers got no temp boot menu!
So went into bios to remove it that way and the damn thing was password protected (phoenix bios) tried all the backdoor passwords to no avail. BTW, the default password on an RM systems bios is "RM" (without the quotes) and in either captial or lowercase.
Gonna have to think of another way to boot commander frown
(Would have cleared the cmos, but was not allowed to take the thing apart because Paul, the network manager (hes not the stupid teacher that "manages" most RM networks, he knows a bit more, but does not know what commander is lol) said that he would remove me if I did that and that it would threaten network security, I only want to change the f*** background!
