SAN ANTONIO -- A 19-year-old man was charged Wednesday with capital murder in connection with the death of his 2-month-old daughter.
Jerry Crisp appeared before a magistrate, who set bond at $250,000.
Crisp was already jailed on an unrelated charge while police investigated the death of his daughter, Jayden Marie Crisp, who died Monday night.
According to an arrest affidavit, Jerry Crisp tearfully confessed to shaking his daughter the day she died and that he changed his story numerous times.
An autopsy revealed that Jayden Marie died from blunt force trauma to the head and asphyxiation.
On Monday, paramedics were called to the Biltmore Park Apartments at 1111 Vista Valet for a call about a child not breathing. Paramedics were not able to revive the child and called police after discovering that the baby's body temperature was below normal. The infant also had multiple bruises on her abdomen, chest, face and pelvic area, police said.
The child's mother will not face any charges since she wasn't home when her daughter was injured, police said.
