Version 4.0 of UGN Security has been released from active beta. I got the majority of coding finished in the last two weeks so I decided to release the site a little earlier than expected.

All of the old files have been purged so you will need to be sure to update your links if you have any which would require updates.

The new site is completely up however I will need people to take and play with it to see if anything is broken (as the dev server used differant variables than the active server).

Please let me know your opinions and let me know of any bugs you may find.

Does this [censored] run faster now?

Congrats on getting all this done, and thanks for the hard work.

Yes, less bulky code to load, I nuked our old stats logger as we use one that uses the apache log files... Additionally I took and made sure everything was 100% XHTML valid which required much much anal retentive coding as well...

We also have full access to Zend Optimizer throgh th server which will render all PHP pages faster from the server than if it where a standard html page.

One large thing that I'm proud of is that all pages loaded snag the outlook from other sections; mainly so it's easier to maintain as to make one update is to make a global update to the entire site.

V4.1 will include the store being integrated; in fact it's what I'm currently working on; I'm wanting to have all site sections combined onto the main URL vs using a subdomain as it'll increase traffic.

For all old subdomains I've added a 301 redirect to point to the new location via the index, however I can't help but think that I've missed something somewhere...

Not a problem, I figured that I owed it to everyone due to having the bastardised layout for so long, nothing has been right since I first moved the site to a host which didn't have ASP support (as the original design was ASP).

It looks like I neglected to add a link to the jobs page; this has been added and updated.

Well, a new little feature, I was in the need for an MD5 script this morning to encrypt a bunch of passwords and I've in the past had the need for a Base64 utility (I've until now used 3rd party sites); we now have an Encode/Decode page at http://www.UnderGroundNews.com/code.php which supports MD5 and Base64 Encoding and Base64 Decoding...

There's no direct link to the staff page.

Also, since you went through all the work to make this xhtml 1.0 and CSS valid, I think you should add those "XHTML" and "CSS" compliancy banners. The ones that look cool; not the ones that suck. You know what I'm talking about.

Yes there is, look under connect and click "about"; there is the staff page.

Which banners? I don't like 90% of the ones they have and tend to think it's gloating when most sites use them...

Well, I fixed 2 validation issues on the site, turns out that I neglected to run it through the parser after I added the mailing list module and the news section (neglected to add an alt and neglected to purge an un-needed value tag); only things that screw up are news stories though smirk...

I'm now also locally hosting the firefox image that is displayed on the main site due to downtime of spreadfirefox making the main page look like [censored] smirk...

rofl...

Unfortunatley, due to the news, the main page (and news pages) will absolutely NEVER validate properly (due to source links)...

I was bored this AM and developed my own threat detector... I re-used images from one I saw online but my code only uses a few lines as compared to the bulkiness of most others...
