Microsoft is talking about their upcoming operating system that's due for release in 2006. Company executives say that Windows Longhorn is easier to use, less costly to manage and more secure.

Some of the main features will be more secure user access system, a virtual file system to aid application compatibility and a secure startup mode.
Another new feature is use of better graphics processing which will change the look and feel.

Microsoft's recent lift of secrecy surrounding Longhorn, combined with the possible desire to deflect attention from the injunction, could set some much needed enthusiasm into the next version of Windows coming out.
