gah how hard is it to go to http://www.linux.org and http://www.linux.com freakin...ppl are so without honor today, I don't care if anyone is a newb, when I was uber dumb, when I was a newb, way back in the day, we didn't have google.com among 1000's of other research, and data diving tools. I guess were all here for a reason eh? To be used?

kernel hacking...lol....DOOD DOESN'T EVEN KNOW C YET! SHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Maybe after that, or if dood knows hex/binary. How things work the book has a nice example of how to start binary coding.

I find that I learn best by just deciding to do something. I origianlly got started with linux with the intent of making my own hardware firewall. While that never happened I did learn a lot of the working trying to acheive that goal. Other tasks I've done are things as simple as setting up Samba, Apache, an IRCD, bootsplash screens, etc. In order to do each of these I had to learn a fair amount of how the OS works to get em done. Just pick something you would like to do and start finding out what you need to know to do it.

Simon, and I quote you. "I want to learn linux.Who can tell me how to learn the source codes of linux? Thank you very much!"

"Thank you very much.I know C.and yes,http://www.linux.org and http://www.linux.com are good Web,but the data is too much to a beginner. I do not know what and how should I get start."

Your welcome, but if you know you c, you'd know the question to your own first answer. Linux was, and still is mostly built on c. Libc structures for libraries particularly, without them...yea. linux.org, and linux.com hold direct links to the most profound, and large information databases on linux itself, ever. So to say their too beginner, is...yet again another...well..problem. If your talking about you just went to the front pages, and no furthur...maybe...but someone wanting knowledge, should teach themselve, by being given leads, and following them. Teaching yourself is a way to become very good at something.

If when you say "What, and how you should get started", you mean where, and how. There's your answer. Infinite I believe in what your saying bro. But the fact is that he's talking about learning how to code in linux, not how to make a ipchains table, or how to gcc some .c's for programs. Or use make for that. I believe he's talking about learning to code since...his first question was. "I want to learn linux.Who can tell me how to learn the source codes of linux? Thank you very much!"

As to "Thak you,Infinite. You are right. The goal is the best teacher. It will lead you to work hard to the goal.but this is a way, however I want a street,a actual street." this....I understand...even though the english is poor. Which is ok. I speak like a brit. So, your answer is not to look for a teacher, or for goal. To go where I told you, or http://www.google.com and search for "c programming linux" you should find a shit load of info. If that's still to hard to understand, you can use http://world.altavista.com I'm guessing you really want to learn, showing it, by doing the work, and looking for yourself shows you really want to learn. Not have someone help you, or show you. Then you become less interested in it, and move on to something else you'll half ass up.

Notice most of this Simon is not directed toward you, it is directed to the way ppl have been stepping up to the scene, and computers in general since day 0. People need to learn in life, your either a 1, or a 0. You either put your all into it, or you don't go into, you go into something else you may be better at. Imo there are naturals, but for those not natural this is the best way to do it. In this world I'm proud to be a 0, because in any world I would never want to be a 1. I really hope my words are gotten this time.
