i have windows 2000 as my os and for some reason when i attempt to run the borland c++ compiler , executable file bcc32, the command thing flashes for a second and then dissappears... i dont know wether it is a problem with my enviroment variables or what.


p.s. if u have any recomendations for a good compiler/ linker im all ears =)

I don't understand why you're trying to act like you know what you're talking about with the 'I don't know whether it's a problem with my enviroment variables or what' crap, because you obviously DON'T know what you're talking about, and trying to come off like you do will only lead you into more confusion. In the future, when trying to ask for help, don't lie. Being straight forward will get you a lot farther.

To solve your problem, navigate to the directory from the command line (You know, Start>Run>command) and execute it. The reason it's not doing anything when you open it is because you're not telling it to do anything specific for you. All it sees is 'Oh, it's asking me for help. Here's the help page. I'm done now. *close*'. It'll do that from the command line too, unless you pass it some instructions, which i'm sure the help menu will instruct you on.

My apologies, and thank you for the help. But unforunatly im cursed with ignorance. Once in command line and i have opend the program it gives me a list of options that i dont know how to enable, also when i tried to link the .c file i got this error "warning w8065
call to function 'Printf' with no prototype in function main". i really do apreciate you taking your time to help me.

This error is caused by the compiler not being able to get the information that line was supposed to convey
