the latest news in the sniper case... the sniper told police that he had tried to contact them but they had hung up on him. he said he was mad and wanted several million dollars deposited in a bank account or else he was going to kill more kids

The amount of kidnappings that are more than simple custody ones, are actually less than normal this year. Its just being overreported. I am not trying to mitigate what happened to the girl, just wanted to point out that this happens every year moreso than this year, even at this rate.
