I couple of years ago...I had a server and I really enjoyed it, a friend of mine gave me a 100mg of storage on his server for a fee.......

I don't have a background in programming...and I was wondering if there are some online companies that will set a server up and host it for you a fee?

Any webhost is capable of this; you'd likely want some sort of dedicated resources... We're hosted by HostNuke who are currently rolling out new VPS Servers; you should shoot off an email to sales@hostnuke.com and tell them that I sent you over, he'll take good care of you .

Thanks, i will.....also i like to use the command-line and would like to be about to ftp into the server(just because it's cool), as well.

Most hosts will NOT have telnet access, as it's insecure (plain text); however, most will give you SSH access (which is basically encrypted telnet).

Another reason to go a VPS route, you'll have root access to your VPS to accompany your dedicated resources
