If anyone like me uses http://www.envyhost.com you will noticed that it was hacked by NNW Hackers Team.

Damage:
Since this happened this morning no damage report has ben reported. But we can say for sure that the front page was damaged and all sub domains, that users have was destroyed. No one can access their subdomain.

I will post more detailed information as I get it.

For note, they evidently pissed someone at NNW off since http://www.envyhost.com/ has been down for at least the past hour...

LoL , maybe their free templates made someone mad, because they loocked like hell, and the templates you had to _pay_ for, were not working or looking really stupid. I saw them a couple of days before this incident.

And really, if they offer you php, at least they could give you mysql too, since php and mysql go hand in hand.

This goes to prove that if you want quality service you either have to pay for it (like going to hostnuke) or searching for a free web provider that knows what he is doing (like going to my favorite free web provider: polarhome)

See, "free" is just a way of saying "come, fuck us in the ass". Cheap is a little better, hostnuke has some dirt cheap plans and their servers are quite good, fast and on a fast connection.

I can understand taking down the server and the frontpage. I mean, you get the attention,but fucking with everyone's accounts on the server. Just being needless assholes then, I hope someone that they del'd gets pissed and pushes some action to be taken.

No they don't. Well not necasarily. PHP is a language that works with damn near any data base out there,

MySQL
mSQL
Sybase
Oracle
Lotus Notes DB
etc etc etc

It is also quite powerfull on its own if you know how to use it right.

Java server side technology, JSP or Servlets, own PHP's ass all day long.

I would argue with you because I love working with PHP, however I have never writen 1 line of JSP code. So I will simply say what I do know,

JDBC is not as widely supported as ODBC, so there are certain limitations to using JSP to connect to data sources. If you have not come across this I have using crystal reports.

Crystal Reports is a program designed to pull statistical data out of databases to run snazzy reports for managements types.

I took a week long course on this and the data sources it can connect to. All OBDC connections. I asked about using JDBC as I have no love for the empire we call microsoft. No go at that station. However They are woking on supporting it in the next version.

I will not say one is better than the other. I will say I find PHP very powerful and flexible as far as being able to connect to (so far) any data source I have wanted to.

Tell you what Pergesu, can you write up a quick introduction to JSP so I can grasp the basics and maybe get an idea.
