Ok, i figured i'd try php, didnt seem hard and i figure i should learn it sooner or later. I come across a message board just for php and get to know a few ppl. I ask them what i need to learn php and they told me to download php so i did. I talk to sum dude on AIM from the php board and hes telling me how to install the stuff and what i need, lah lah. Then he tells me i must be running a webserver and all this other crap.... all i want to do is learn the language and get familiar with it... anyone have any suggestions?
Actually they charge for hosting on that site. I used to have an account there. But they disabled it. Anyways, I would suggest what that guy told you about setting up your own server. It's easier than you think. And it would save you money unless you can find a site that offers PHP and free hosting. PLus you'll learn something out of it by setting it up yourself.

heh. So far, that makes every link Learner has given to a free php host wrong. hehe. well actually I think one of those free php host he gave a link to was right...not wait nevermind I got that somewhere else.
Yep actualy I can't seem to find a free PHP host anywhere. All the ones I have found that say FREE end up charging a fee of some sort. <img border="0" alt="[[censored]]" title="" src="graemlins/[censored].gif" />
I figured it out. I set up a lil apache server.. was really easy but it isnt secure... just good enough to mess with the language, works for me. Im sure ill learn more about servers when needed, im on 56k now and connect at 24 so there is no point in hsting till i move.
yeah, i downloaded it all in one bundle... its called triad or something. The computer is use it on isnt running right now so i cant check what the name is but i remember it had the word "triad" in it. Maybe PHPtriad... i dunno.
i will as soon as i get my pc working, i it stored in favorites . its very simple to use to, click 2 buttons... store your php files in a certain folder (im sure u can change the settings but i just wanted to mess w/ php... not the server)
