I hate hacking movies. At least everyone I have seen. The make sure to cram in as many "h4ck3r w0rd2" as possible. Sword fish is a perfect example. Ole boy is getting a bj while cracking the DOJ net. After that, John Travolta is asking him how he did it. Listen to how he crams the buz words in there. The font on the PC's is allway something like 55px. Some of what they show is about as realistic as sending 10 emails to your friends and seeing the taco bell dog run across your screen. The only good point is usally the hacker is the good guy. Why not make a realistic hacker movie. There is enough out there to OMG base one off a real persons life events. Say Kevin Mitnick http://www.kevinmitnick.com/home.html Kevin Poulsen http://tlc.discovery.com/convergence/hackers/bio/bio_07.html Captn Crunch(John Draper) http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/hackers/captain-crunch/ Mark Abene(Phiber Optik) http://tlc.discovery.com/convergence/hackers/bio/bio_04.html **Leagal hackers** Richard Stallman http://www.stallman.org/ Linus Torvald http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/11.11/linus_pr.html The apple duo, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs http://www.wbglinks.net/pages/history/stuffwbgl/people/woz.jpg http://www.wbglinks.net/pages/history/stuffwbgl/people/jobs.jpg Ken Thompson(Father of Unix, BSD, and C programming language) http://www.computerhope.com/history/unix.htm http://tlc.discovery.com/convergence/hackers/bio/bio_02.html The list goes on. We can't make a movie on the true life events of one of these guys. Not a flash in the pan movie, I mean a full hollywood production with decent actors so I belive it. No lets show some Matrix with a 3d hologram floating around like in hackers in the early 90's. Where the chief of IT security likes to ride around on a skate board. WTF is that [censored]. The matrix, good movie. Loaded with bull [censored] Sword fish Bull [censored] Hackers, loads of bull [censored] war games okay I like it, but still bull [censored] The net with sandra, BULL [censored] To pick a favorite I would have to say Pirates of silicone valley. If you have not seen it... Get it. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0...-7411839-4038404?v=glance http://www.movieprop.com/tvandmovie/reviews/piratesofsiliconvalley.htm http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&id=1800385791&cf=info&intl=us http://alt.tnt.tv/movies/tntoriginals/pirates/frame_index.htm

mm, I agree with you a bit there, but I don't think that accuracy is something that the people who made the movie were looking for- what I mean is, thats not the point, I mean its the closest thing we can get to movies that are about our society. One thing I don't like about them though is that they give the public a really bad impression of how h4cking works.

ROLF Though I do like Angelina Jolie's titties ROLF My school made me watch a Doco on, The apple duo, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs Man Steve Wozniak is one hairy dude. Also movies are about fantasy, why would you go a watch real-life stuff when you can live it? its like that big brother crap, all they do is sit around a couch and talk, thats the stuff you do with your friends and family, so why would you want to watch it? If you want accuracy watch doco's.

This kid's like a genius, but somehow the company's coming out with all kinds of pimp [censored] code from nowhere. Turns out they're finding these badass open source coders, ganking their code, and then beating their heads in. This kid's best friend dies, so he decides to wtf_pwn the company. Wish I could remember what it's called, but it's a pimp show. holla

Well for me that definatly must be hackers. Yeah yeah not for the flashy bs hacking etc.
But the music in that movie is just awsome (especially their opening theme).
And further it just shows how the real world (and with that i mean in real life) looks upon hackers. Hackers treated like criminals, making them look plain evil. The name "hacker" should be a good thing, oh well that's why i don't even want to be associated with that word ever again.
That's why i love the movie.

I am aware, but it is not acurate. it is way off sesationalized. It capitalized on peoples fear of computer hackers and this real life name. Other events were greatly exagerated.

*nod* didnt know that. spose making a movie on his life wasnt exactly 'hollywood material' so once again they had to try it from a camera angle so that they could focus on sales... xacex: It's actually called Operation Takedown. yea, knew that. sorry for not being accurate :p

I would really love to see a good hacker movie with a story on the lines of hackers around the world uniting together in an attempt to do something. Like when NATO bombed the chinese embassy in belgrade? and 20k chinese tried to crash certain american .gov sites. Or like a movie on cyber terrorism.
and it should have some hot actresses. that also know how to act. and a cool asian guy! and a pissed of president...
