The Xbox 360 gaming console outsold both the Nintendo Wii and Sony's PlayStation 3 in the United States this holiday, cementing its place at the top of the console wars. Additionally, the Wii and PS3 were also outsold by the PS2.

Analysts believe both Nintendo and Sony both suffered because they failed to come onto the market with enough consoles to meet initial demand. One analyst said: "The Wii is hard to find and the PS3 is overpriced."

The news for 2007 is still good for Nintendo, however, with the desire for the Wii console being described as "absolutely phenomenal" and another analyst saying "Everyone will be buying the Wii".
