I'm new to the forum and I'm also a newbie.
I am about to start school next semester at uat to learn network security. so here is my question. Likely, 200gb hd space at minimum...
Not too bad, RAM is dirt cheap now (no $5/mb anymore), HD space is cheap (get yourself a 750gb hd for under $200; which is insane, i bought my 500GB hd for like $500!)...
Processor will vary based on if you want to be AMD or Intel; which will decide a lot more...
Myself, I'd go AM2 processor, Dual Core, 2GHz+, 2-4GB ram based on what you can afford. Some motherboards support up to 8GB ram...
